Call and Signaling Analysis



T1/E1 Call Capture & Analysis

This powerful utility provides the capability to record calls directly from T1/E1 lines for post analysis. The system uses two Ultra T1/E1 Cards, or GL's Dual Laptop T1/E1 Analyzer to interface non-intrusively with T1 or E1 lines. Calls can be automatically or manually captured from both directions of transmission. Subsequently, the captured call or calls can be played back and analyzed in time, spectral, and 3D graphic modes using a commercial sound card, built-in high fidelity speakers, and custom analysis software.

T1/E1 Multiple Call Capture and Analysis

GL’s Multi CCA application is similar to CCA, where in it is used to monitor hundreds of calls, capture the bidirectional data, signaling and traffic, simultaneously from multiple T1/E1 lines, based on the user-defined trigger configurations. Once the capture trigger type is selected, users can control and run multiple capture instances on different T1/E1 ports from a single GUI.

Call Data Records (CDR)

This application works with CCA (Call Capture and Analysis) and VBA (Voice Band Analyzer) applications and generates Call Summary and Call Detail reports. CDR provides comprehensive information on each and every call occurring on T1 E1 lines, including voice capture, signaling information for CAS, ISDN, MFC-R2, SS7, all alarms and errors occurring during the call, detailed voiceband event information (dual tones, fax tones, modem signals, and more), detailed analysis of the voiceband call including noise level, speech level, speech activity factor, echo measurements, and more. It also categorizes call as voice, fax, modem, or data.

Fax Analysis (FaxScan™ for 2-Wire, 4-Wire, & IP)

FaxScan™ is GL's command-line Fax decoder/demodulator application used to analyze the recorded voice band traffic (PCM stream & PCAP files) for Fax traffic. It provides analysis of the T.38 packets, T.30 frames, general call-flow indicators and decoded fax image in TIFF-F format. FaxScan™ is also available as a licensed module along with GL's Voice Band Analyzer (VBA) for processing 2-Wire or 4-Wire captures.

MAPS™ CAS Protocol Emulator (Scripted Channel Associated Signaling (CAS) Emulation)

MAPS™ CAS Emulator is a client-side application that works along with GL's T1/E1 Analyzer Cards and Windows Client/Server software. This test tool is used to perform testing using CAS signaling and transmission and detection of TDM traffic over T1/E1 using scripts, and offers a complete solution for testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of devices and networks implementing CAS.

CAS Simulator

GL's CAS simulator is a client-side application that works along with the GL's T1/E1 Analyzer. This optional application simulates any user defined CAS protocol as well as providing analysis of the CAS Protocol by providing signaling bit transitions and forward/backward frequency tones/digits. In order to easily create the user-defined CAS scripts, the CAS simulator includes a script editor. This tool allows easy point and click operation for building simple as well as complex CAS scripts.

MFC-R2 Analysis and Emulation

GL's MFCR2 Analysis & Simulation solutions use any of the following hardware:

  • T1E1 Analyzer (Portable USB or HD PCI cards) Or
  • DCOSS (Digital Central Office Switch Simulator)

Both the products supports remote capture & analysis using client-server technology, while DCOSS is ideal for simulating and testing advanced telecom networks and products, including switches, gateways, and transmission systems.

Active Voice / Noise Level Monitor

This application continuously measures speech power levels, noise power levels, speech activity factor, dc offset, and long term average power. The application operates on all or selected timeslots, or on stored files.

Real Time Strip Chart Application

The Real-Time Strip Chart application is an optional software for analysis of CAS signaling, with GL Communications' field proven Ultra E1 or T1 internal cards or Laptop E1 or T1 external products. Strip-Chart application enables non- intrusive capturing of PCM data and signaling, and subsequent plotting of the same onto a strip chart format. The application is perfect for CAS protocols, DTMF or MF Signaling, or other voice and signaling timing relationships.

Multi Channel BERT Application

Multi-channel Bit Error Rate Testing (MCBERT) measures correctness of data received on T1/E1 lines/timeslots with stored data in a reference file. The application can work in real-time with data currently being received on T1/E1 lines/timeslots, or off-line with data stored in a file. The on-line T1/E1 testing can be done on full or fractional T1/E1 timeslots.

Signaling Bits Recorder/Analyzer

Working in conjunction with one or multiple Ultra T1/E1 Cards or Single/Dual Laptop T1/E1 Analyzers, this optional software provides timestamped indications of all signaling bit changes. Signaling bit changes are recorded for all timeslots simultaneously. A file may be specified for saving the captured signaling transitions. A previously recorded file may be viewed by "loading" the respective file.

DTMF/MF Transmit & Capture Digits/Tones

The Capture Dialed Digits application provides the capability to capture and display DTMF and MF (along with MFR2-forward and MFR2-backward) digits as they are received on one or several timeslots. This application provides two basic modes of operation: Manual and Scan for Offhook Modes.

Near Real-time Voice-band Analyzer Software

The Near Real-time Voice-band Analyzer (VBA) is an analysis tool for monitoring voice band network traffic. The VBA can host different analysis modules for monitoring speech and noise levels, line echo. The standard modules included in the application are ITU-T P.56 Active Voice Level analysis, and Line Echo (Hybrid) analysis. Other analysis modules such as ITU-T P.561, P.562, and P.563 can be hosted as plug-ins.

T1/E1 Record Playback Software

This optional software permits the user to transmit and/or capture any signal on T1 or E1 lines with GL's T1/E1 Cards or Laptop T1/E1 Units. Typical applications include transmission or capture of prerecorded video files, traffic loading applications and protocol analysis. Files of any length can be transmitted continuously (without loss) in user selected contiguous timeslots. Repeated transmission of a single file is also possible.

Transmit/Receive File Utility

The Transmit/Receive File Utility allows transmission and reception of files to/from T1 or E1 lines with greater flexibility than the Record/Playback Software. The optional Record/Playback software runs as a feature under the T1/E1 application software. The transmit/receive file utility program, however, runs as a 'console' program and is intended for use by other WIN 95/98/NT applications as a 'callable' function. Examples of use include its use with MATLAB programs or other programs that can call external programs.

Client Server Scripted Control

GL's Windows Client/Server software allows the user of T1/E1 analysis cards, the capability of remote operation, automation, and multi-site connectivity. T1/E1 Cards in a Server are easily controlled through software Clients at remote or local sites via TCP/IP sockets. Connectivity can be via Dial-Up, LAN, WAN, or more typically the Internet. Server software can run multiple tasks simultaneously at the request of the Client software. Server software runs under Windows 95, 98, 2000, and NT.

T1/E1 Traffic Classifier

GL's T1/E1 Traffic Classifier provides non-intrusive, real-time monitoring and classification of T1 and E1 traffic. It can classify one or more T1/E1 lines located locally or remotely. The traffic is monitored in real-time for 16 different traffic types including silence, voice, a variety of data modulations, fax modulations, DTMF digits, and call progress signals. Classification can be done on selected timeslots across multiple T1/E1 lines. A multi-channel strip chart display shows traffic types and durations using a configurable color scheme. An off-line feature can playback or fast forward through previously recorded and classified traffic data.

DCME Test and Analysis

GL's DCME Analyzer is ideal for DCME testing, analysis, and verification. The DCME Analyzer connects non-intrusively to the bearer side of DCME equipment. Both real-time and post-processing of the bearer signal is possible. In real-time mode, the status of the bearer including synchronization, bearer loading, fax loading and other statistics are easily monitored. In post processing mode, the entire DCME bearer signal is captured to the PC's hard disk, so the captured file can then be post-analyzed. The data can be displayed to permit bit level analysis and verification of channel mapping and implementation timing of the DCME protocol.

Network Surveillance System

GL's Surveillance System is designed using Open Distributed Architecture. The system is scalable, so that it can be used for various applications like Billing Verification, Fraud Detection, Protocol Analysis, Traffic Engineering, QoS, Call Recording etc. T1/E1 Probes are deployed in the field to monitor various protocols, which are collected at a central site into a database. Various client applications can be developed to interrogate database records. ISDN, SS7, GR-303, V5.x, IS-41, GSM, GPRS, INAP etc. are all supported. The client can access database information remotely, including through Web Browsers.
