Automating T1 E1 and Datacom Testing with Python Scripts

Welcome to the latest issue of GL's Newsletter, providing insight into our tProbe™, an advanced tool for T1, E1, and Datacom testing. Automation has become essential for running repetitive and complex testing scenarios. The tProbe™ supports Python scripting, and GL provides sample scripts to aid the user in performing testing. This allows smooth, automated workflows that save time and reduce errors.

Automating T1 E1 and Datacom Testing with Python Scripts

Overview

GL’s tProbe™ T1 E1 Datacom analyzer is a versatile platform for generating, receiving, and monitoring traffic on legacy networks. It supports various test traffic including bit error rate testing, tones, digits and audio files. Additionally, it can emulate telecom protocols such as SS7, CAS, and ISDN. The portable tProbe™ connects to a host Windows® PC via USB, and its accompanying software features an intuitive graphical interface, allowing users to easily configure, initiate, and complete tests, visualize data, and export reports.

Designed for installing, verifying, and maintaining Datacom equipment, the tProbe™ Datacom Analyzer features a software-selectable interface. It can emulate both Data Terminal Equipment (DTE) and Data Communications Equipment (DCE) and serves as a monitor for Datacom lines. It supports both synchronous (sync) and asynchronous (async) modes of operation.

GL's Windows Client/Server (WCS) software allows users to perform remote operations, automate processes, and connect to multiple tProbe™ devices. GL's Windows Client Python Module (WCPM) offers a client interface for the WCS. It enables a Python program to connect to one or more WCS, execute commands, and receive responses.

The Python client can connect to multiple WCS, controlling tProbe™ devices across various locations via TCP/IP. This capability facilitates task automation through scripts, repetitive testing at scheduled intervals, and flexible data export and saving. GL provides sample Python scripts to help users get started, as well as a comprehensive Application Programming Interface manual. GL provides outstanding support in debugging customer scripts via email or interactive sessions.
