GL Releases Enhanced T1 E1 Analyzer Products and Software Ver 4.95
Welcome to the July issue of GL's Newsletter covering the latest products, features and, enhancements to our versatile T1/E1 Analyzer product line (Ver 4.95).
New products introduced to the T1/E1 Analyzer Product Line
- USB based portable T1/E1 Analyzer
GL's new USB based T1/E1 Analyzer is the world's most powerful, compact analyzer that provides a complete BERT, voiceband, data, signaling, and protocol analysis/simulation. It can perform analysis and emulation of various signal types including voice, digits, and tones; various protocols including HDLC, ISDN, TRAU, SS7, CAS, Frame Relay, GSM, GPRS, CDMA, UMTS, and so on. It is capable of T1/E1 PCM signal visualization, capture, storage, analysis, and emulation. In addition, convenient features such as portability, USB friendly interface to a PC, remotability, and scripting are available. For more information, please visit portable USB analyzer page. - T1/E1/J1 USB Controlled Switch
The T1/E1/J1 Switch is another important addition to the GL's T1/E1 Analyzer product line. It provides non-intrusive failsafe monitoring and intrusive test and diagnostics capability for up to 8 full duplex T1, E1, and J1 lines. The unit also provides two RJ-48c connectors for a thru connection for equipment and line connections and a RJ-48c monitor connector for monitoring both directions of a full duplex high-speed line. The switch can be remotely controlled via a USB connection and the WCS software. For more information, please visit T1 E1 J1 Switch page.
Other significant feature enhancements added to the T1/E1 Analyzer Product Line - Version 4.95 include:
- Enhancements to TRAU Products
TRAU (Transcoder / Rate Adapter Unit) frames carry voice and control information in a GSM network. GL's TRAU tools are used for detailed analysis and emulation of TRAU frames between the BTS and BSC. Significant enhancements have been added to these tools. The tools are: - TRAU Protocol Analyzer
The TRAU Protocol Analyzer is used to analyze and view TRAU frames at the Abis interface (between the BTS and the BSC). Users can select half rate (HR-8 kbps) or full rate (FR-16 kbps) settings to capture TRAU frames according to the data rate used. Various codecs are supported such as FR, EFR, AMR, and HR for compression / decompression of speech. For more information, please visit TRAU Protocol Analyzer page. - TRAU Packet Data Analysis (PDA)
Packet Data Analysis (PDA) is a part of the TRAU Protocol Analyzer and when invoked it displays call information in tabular and graphical formats (PDA - Summary View) as well as detailed frame by frame information (PDA - Detail View).
Summary View displays information for each direction including call identity, device number, channel number, start sub channel, end sub channel, total packets, codec type CRC errors, and bad frames. It includes separate statistical counts and graphs to view active calls over the duration of the capture.
Detail View allows the user to have a detailed look at both sides of a single call frame by frame. The following data is included: frame #, frame direction, frame type, frame sync status, speech frame classification, and time alignment. In addition, statistics, inband events, wave graph, and spectral display of speech in both directions is presented. For more information, please visit TRAU Packet Data Analysis (PDA) page. - TRAU ToolBox™
TRAU Toolbox™ is a powerful simulator of TRAU traffic. It allows emulation of CCU component in the BTS or the TRAU unit at the BSC. It can generate uplink frames and receive downlink frames on many sub-channels or vice a versa. Time alignment on transmission is fully supported. All codecs are supported including GSM, EFR, AMR (all modes) in half rate (HR) and full rate (FR) capacities. On the receive side, user can view speech with spectral display, oscilloscope, record to disk, detect digits and tones. For more information, please visit TRAU Toolbox™ page. - TRAU Traffic Playback
This software provides the ability to playback recorded TRAU file(s) on selected / all subchannels of T1/ E1 lines. Many options for full simulation are provided. For more information, please visit TRAU Traffic Playback page - Remote Analyzers for GR-303, HDLC, ISDN, SS7, V5.X, FrameRelay Protocols
GL's GR303, HDLC, ISDN, SS7, V5.X, and FrameRelay protocol analyzers can now be accessed remotely for real-time as well as offline analysis. Remote access is accomplished with the "server" function collocated with the hardware. One or more "remote" client(s) perform the protocol analysis. One or more clients are supported with a single server, or multiple servers may be simultaneously connected to a single remote client using a single interface. In addition, common filtering criteria can be set for T1 / E1 cards located on multiple servers. For more information, please visit GR-303, HDLC, ISDN, SS7, V5.X, FrameRelay web pages. - Transmit Dialing Digits (TDD)
Transmit Dialing Digits has now been enhanced with Call-script Save & Load feature. This new feature allows the script display to be saved as a text file, loaded from a file or cleared. The text file thus saved helps users to view the transmissions carried out such as digits, signaling, voice file and so on. For more information, please visit Transmit Dialing Digits page - Loading Saved Profiles Through Command Line
Loading of profiles is now also supported through command line using '/p' switch when invoking the Analyzer GUI. This is especially useful in applications such as ISDN Emulator where profile loading/saving capability from command line can be used to automatically place a call on a timeslot without any user intervention. The Load Profile feature now supports Server invocation. For more information, please consult the Client/Server documentation available at GL Documentation page - SS7 Call Capture & Analysis (CCA)
This application has been enhanced to include call capture based on SS7 signaling messages. The SS7 link must be on the same T1 or E1 trunk. "Call filtering" feature can be used to only capture calls with a user-defined called and calling numbers rather than all calls. For more information, please visit Call Capture and Analysis page - Many Enhancements to Windows Client Server (WCS)
The following new features are added to WCS - New commands have been added to WCS to control 'Card Activation', and 'Task Disposition on Client Disconnect'.
- The WCS now includes a new Client/Server Version 4 messaging strategy that transmits the message length as a 4-byte integer preceding the message itself. This transmission of message length enhances the reliability of message reception by the Client at the other end of the communications link.
- Precision Delay Measurement has been added as a new application in WCS. This new DLL allows the Glserver to transmit a bit pattern on the designated card/timeslots, and simultaneously monitor the bit pattern received on the card's receiver to measure the round trip delay.
- Additional sample script files have been added for TRAU, Precision Delay, Monitor Frequency and MCBert applications. For more information, please refer to WCS manuals available at GL Documentation.
- Multiple Dongle Support
The T1/E1 Analyzer software residing on a given system can now support up-to two dongles as long as they have different company codes. GL has two company codes.
Apart from the above, there have been many other minor enhancements and bug fixes to the T1/E1 software. Kindly refer to the "What's New In Current Version" link for further details.
