Press Release: GL Announces "Online & Real-time Network Surveillance Capability for SS7, ISDN, & Wireless Networks"
Gaithersburg, Maryland, USA - October 1, 2004 - GL Communications Inc, today announced the release of an "Online and Real-Time Network Surveillance Capability for SS7, ISDN, and Wireless Networks" with their comprehensive NetSurveyor™ product line. In today's networks, surveillance of network characteristics is becoming more important than ever before. Performance Monitoring, Capacity Management, Troubleshooting, Security, Fraud Detection, Alarm Monitoring, Billing Verification, Remote Protocol Analysis, Failure Prediction and Traffic Engineering are some aspects that necessitate continuous monitoring of network operation. GL's NetSurveyor™ allows a network operator or service provider to cost-effectively, continuously, remotely, automatically, and non-intrusively monitor all aspects of network operation.
GL's NetSurveyor™ system has a three tier architecture. The first layer consists of GL's T1/E1 Probes which are capable of tapping into live call traffic and non-intrusively capturing CDR and Message Trace information, which is sent via IP packets to a central repository. The second layer is the Data Layer where the captured data is stored. An Oracle 9i database is used to store the CDRs and Message Trace data. The database is accessible in real-time over the web using an application server or queried by customer applications such as a billing system or accessed by a reporting tool such as Crystal Reports, for aggregation and analysis of historic data. The last layer is the Data Access Layer (Application Server) where the data presentation logic is contained. An online demo of all components is available thru GL's website.
GL Communications is a company that has traditionally provided high quality test and simulation equipment for telecom test engineers. "GL's NetSurveyor™ provides unprecedented visibility into all aspects of network operation", said Vijay Kulkarni, CEO of GL Communications. "Our architecture provides real-time access to any and all information about the network operation and performance thru a secure but easily accessible browser interface. Our customers are very excited with its power and flexibility."
