Press Release: China Mobile Selects GL Comm's Wireless Voice Quality Testing Products
Gaithersburg, Maryland, USA - June 17th, 2005 - GL Communications Inc announced today that China Mobile has selected GL's Automated Wireless Voice Quality Testing products to test and measure voice quality in their entire mobile network. GL is a leading provider of test and measurement products for the telecom industry and China Mobile is the largest mobile carrier in China and in the world.
A unique feature of GL's Wireless VQT product is the ability to provide a single end-to-end measure of voice quality that includes the effects of different handset manufacturers, propagation coverage, call dropouts, voice compression algorithms, and network technology. GL's system includes the widely accepted "subjective listening" algorithm specified in ITU-T P.862.1, called PESQ LQO. It also includes automated call control, GPS, and mapping software to facilitate "drive testing" and easy recording and logging of measurements. The product is a portable configuration that allows connection and simultaneous use of up to 4 mobile handsets. GL's VQT product can also be used to test voice quality on PSTN, T1, E1, and VoIP networks.
The selection of GL Communications as the Wireless VQT vendor for China Mobile's entire network is indicative of GL's long-standing commitment to serve the Chinese telecom market. HangZhou HuaXing Telecommunication Technology Company will be GL's exclusive distributor for GL's Wireless VQT products into China Mobile.
