Newsletter: GL Announces Multi-Channel BERT
Welcome to the December Issue of GL Communication's Newsletter providing information and insight into the latest product introductions and reviews. In this issue, GL announces an enhancement to Bit Error Rate Test (BERT) capability of Ultra T1 and E1 test and measurement cards, namely Multi-Channel BERT (MCBERT). The complete specifications for this new optional feature are given at the following link https://www.gl.com/multichannelbert.html
Multi-Channel Bit Error Rate Test (MCBERT) application continuously measures correctness of data received on T1/E1 lines/timeslots with stored data in a reference file.
The reference file can be a user desired file or standard pseudo-random files provided with the application. The reference file is used in a circular manner for continuous checking.
The application can work in real-time with data currently being received on T1/E1 lines/timeslots, or off-line with data stored in a file.
The on-line T1/E1 testing can be done on full or fractional T1/E1 timeslots, including many 64kbps (56kbps) independent non-contiguous stream channels ,
one hyperchannel per T1/E1
(n x 64kbps timeslots, n = 1..24 T1, 1..32 E1; contiguous timeslots) , or many subchannels n x 8kbps.
This application could be on the receiving end of the "File playback application" which can transmit or broadcast a reference file into one or many timeslots of one or many cards. MCBERT is ideally suited to ATM or other applications where multiple 64/56 kbps channels are involved simultaneously but not treated contiguously in the network.
An application note has been provided describing the MCBERT features in detail. Please review this application note and give us a call if you are interested in GL's products/software for this or other applications. We would be happy to consult with you on solutions to your testing needs and we look forward to hearing from you.
