EC Test Configuration with Laptops (see Figure 1)
Advantages and Disadvantages
- Ability to test many channels simultaneously
- Convenience and portability by using Laptop T1/E1 units and Notebook PCs
- One unit runs the echo loop simulation on multiple channels using script
- Other unit runs a GUI with stimulus and realtime visual and graphical presentation
- A simple handset for speech input and output
Essential Elements
- Two Laptop T1s or E1s with two Notebook PCs
- Record/Playback Software for File transmission and capture
- Adobe Audition Software for viewing, analyzing, and playback of captured responses
- DTMF/MF Software for complex tone generation and detection
- Scripted Control Software for echo loop simulation

EC Test Configuration with Ultra T1/E1 Cards in Separate PCs (see Figure 2)
Advantages and Disadvantages
- Ability to test more channels simultaneously than Config. 1
- Lunchbox PCs provide some portability
- Each Lunchbox PC can accomodate both T1 and E1 capability
- One Card/PC runs the echo loop simulation on multiple channels using script
- Other Card?PC runs a GUI with stimulus and realtime visual and graphical presentation
- A simple handset with handset adapter for speech input and output

- Ability to test T1 and E1 with a single system
- Lunchbox PCs provide some portability
- One PC runs both the echo loop simulation on multiple channels and stimulus and response using Scripted Control software
- Echo Canceller testing performed entirely within script
- Call Capture and Analysis software allows monitoring and performance evaluation of operational echo cancellers
